Pets World receives reprieve

Pets World has a new owner – the future of the business, its beloved pets and its devoted staff is now secure.

The new owners plan to revitalise the business and ensure that each store reconnects with its loyal customer base and provides the support necessary to grow the business.

The new owners and staff are excited at the opportunity to grow the business after a period of uncertainty. 

Some changes have been made to improve the business already, and the owners have exciting plans for further changes in the new year.  “Our focus is to make sure our customers can find the products they want in our stores to make sure every pet has a healthy and happy Christmas.  We are putting the final touches on our plans for 2010, and hope our customers and staff are as excited as we are about the new year” said Randolph van der Burgh, the new CEO of the business.

RSPCA withdraws its opposition to the sale of pets in pet shops

In a new policy statement adopted 28th October 2008 the RSPCA amended section A2.1 from “The RSPCA is opposed to the sale of animals from pet shops”  to the following:  

“RSPCA Australia believes that acquiring a companion animal should be the result of careful planning and a clear understanding of the responsibilities involved. Prospective owners should carefully consider whether they have and will continue to have, the facilities, time, financial means and level of interest necessary to ensure a satisfactory standard of care for their animals”
